Can I have my disk space back please?

The IBM Installation Manager tracks all the installations of, and updates to, your Rational tools. As part of this it offers the ability to roll back to previous versions if you're having problems with the latest version. That could mean you have a lot of old files lying around on your disk.

There is an option in the Installation Manager to control whether you want this feature in the first place and it also allows you to clean up the old files. Select File -> Preferences -> Files for Rollback from the Installation Manager menu. You will see a checkbox with which you can switch off the rollback facility and a button to delete the old files.

I've just done a clean installation of RDi/RBD/RAD v7.5.x with Websphere v6.1 and v7.0 test environments. I'm using the IBM Packaging Utility so I've got the latest versions installed. When I went into the Rollback options, Installation Manager offered to clean up 2.5GB of saved files.

It's worth a look :-)

Andy,

Thanks for this little gem! I'm able to breathe a little easier having reclaimed 9gb of disk.
