Overview

FBD Associates (FBDA), and its key personnel, have been in the business of analysing, translating and migrating critical Natural/Adabas systems since 1990 - a key factor in IBM's decision to partner with FBDA in 2006 to provide the basis of the Rational Migration Extension for Natural (RMEn) migration technology.

The complex issues and analysis capabilities of Natural systems are well practiced and understood and FBDA provides expertise that allows IBM and its clients to confidently proceed with legacy system migration. Leveraging IBM's EGL technology and related Rational products, FBDA’s toolsets have demonstrated a clear cost advantage to other system upgrade and cost reduction alternatives.

Offerings & Services

IBM, with FBDA, provides an array of technologies, services and solutions to migrate clients Natural/Adabas or Natural/DB2 systems to EGL, thereby allowing a dependency on SAG Natural and associated licence costs to be eliminated.

RMEn Discovery and Analysis (“DNA”) Reports clarify migration issues, and enable efficient analysis of existing systems for translation and deployment to newer technologies.

The RMEn solution accomplishes this challenging task proficiently, and automatically generates functionally equivalent EGL code that preserves business logic of the client’s current Natural system, and simplifies end-user transition by preserving the "look and feel" and business processes of the original application.
