The following systems and software have been tested for use with IBM® Rational® EGL Community Edition. Other software products and versions might also work with Rational EGL Community Edition, but have not been specifically tested.

System requirements:

• Memory: Minimum 1 GB, 2 GB recommended
• Disk space: Minimum 75 MB for the plug-in and 400 MB for the full .zip file; additional space is required for the resources that you develop.

Software requirements:

• Operating Systems: Windows® XP SP2 and Windows Vista®
• Java™ SE Development Kit (JDK) 6.
• If you are using the plug-in, you must use Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers v3.4 (Ganymede). (The full .zip file contains any necessary Eclipse packages.)

Browsers:

• Mozilla® Firefox® 3 and 3.5
• Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7 and 8
• Google™ Chrome 2.0

Database servers:

• Apache Derby 10.5
• IBM DB2® Express-C 9.7 for Windows
• MySQL Community Server 5.1

Application servers:

• Apache Tomcat 6
  • If you run SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) services on Tomcat outside the Eclipse workbench, you must use Apache Axis 1.4.
