This is the place where members of the COBOL Development team will discuss ways to use COBOL, share tips and shortcuts, ongoing work involving COBOL, and sometimes even provide an early look at new features and functions we are thinking about for the future.

A quick introduction to me! I am Captain COBOL...at least according to IBM SCLM developer Liam Doherty I got promoted from MR. COBOL at the last SHARE. (http://www.share.org)

I have over 20 years experience in development of IBM COBOL compilers and run-time libraries using PL/X, assembler, C, and COBOL and am a regular presenter at SHARE conferences. I can be 'seen' often on IBMMAIN (http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html) responding to questions and correcting information about COBOL products and directions for COBOL on IBM mainframes.

I am a mainframe bigot, I like to say "If you can pick it up, it is NOT a computer". According to me, and many others, the world runs on IBM z/OS and COBOL. Most of my work has been on IBM mainframe COBOL products, though I can code in C and work with Windows and AIX.

This BLOG may cover any and all topics IBM COBOL, z/OS, I-series, AIX, and Windows/RDz. Since most COBOL is written and running on z/OS, we may slant in that direction
